I am continuing a series for our newsletter to include a leadership topic along with passing along news in the nursing community. I wanted to focus on the positive in nursing and leadership. Subscribe to receive notification when our newsletter comes out. We publish twice a month.
You haven’t heard much from me in the month of August. I finished our series on the Be-Attitudes of Leadership and I decided to take a break. When I write, I need to be inspired. I must have something to say. I don’t like just putting anything out there to meet a self-imposed deadline. I needed some thinkin’ time. Have you hit a wall, a roadblock, or where just plum tuckered out? I decided I needed a writing hiatus. I am so glad that I did.
I am now refreshed, reenergized, and with an inspired sense of direction, I am ready to engage anew. I have started a new chapter in my business and I have begun an upgrade. I have another platform where I moved some of my in-person training programs such as CPR, first aid, and other training programs. I started (or shall I say, restarted), my nursing assistant training school. With a brand-new program, I can make it what I wanted and make the changes I would like to see happen. I have created a hybrid program, part in person and part online. This is something that I wanted to do in my previous business but I did not have the skill set nor the support to do so. This is my baby as they say, and it is great to start something new. I have not forgotten the skills I learned working with my previous company, I have expanded on that knowledge. I made an upgrade. I revamped what wasn’t working in the previous venture and made improvements. The beauty is that now that it is under my own brand, I am free to make the changes that I feel necessary to best meet the needs of the students. There is freedom and power in beginning again. Change is inevitable. People retire, move on to other ventures, or start over. I am learning to embrace the power of new beginnings and reset. I encourage you to do so as well. Hit the reset button. Let’s upgrade.
Find out where you can reset and upgrade your skills. Approach a problem with a new set of eyes. Sharpen your tools. Set out to refresh your skills. Have there been any innovations since you last developed your project? Have the needs of your target audience changed? Can you now improve on what you have done in the past? It’s time for an upgrade.
Nursing News
An investigation is under way after a man in Florida who suffered from dementia was found 2 weeks later dead in the closet in the nursing home. The family had been told previously that the resident “signed himself out” despite the resident having dementia and after suffering two strokes limiting his mobility.
